Title Deed on a Property Under Construction

With hundreds of new projects coming up around Dubai, buying an off-plan unit is quite popular. An off-plan investment is a project that is still under construction and has not been completed by the developer. These are quite popular because they have flexible payment plans and tend to be sold at a profit once completed.

A frequently asked question about off-plan projects is: do you get a title deed on a property that is still under construction?

The answer is no. However, you do get something called oqood. Off-plan projects are registered in the Interim Real Estate Register by the Dubai Land Department. Oqood is proof of this registration. In simple terms, oqood is like a sales and purchase agreement. As soon as the property is completed, you will be entered into the Real Estate Register and will obtain a title deed.
